Giahsa and the complete water cycle. Networks
Giahsa is in charge of controlling and supervising the sanitation and supply networks. On the one hand it maintains and operates the supply network (provision, transportation, distribution and connections as well as their corresponding elements) and the sanitation network (gravity collectors, propelled wastewater networks, connections and their respective elements). The Network Department deals with knowledge, study, analysis, work and manoeuvres necessary to optimize their operation, achieve greater hydraulic performance and an improved quality of service at a lower cost. Thanks to this direct contact with the Network, it is possible to offer precise information to Projects and Works regarding the need for extensions, modifications or improvements so that the corresponding works projects can be drafted. Apart from operating the networks, this Department carries out two different types of maintenance on these, corrective maintenance, to repair a breakdown in the pipes that occurred by chance or by design, and preventive maintenance, which is carried out to keep the network in the best possible conditions of use and operation in order to reduce the number of incidents and amount of corrective maintenance tasks carried out on the pipes of the system, its hydraulic elements, special parts or works. As regards the sanitation networks, Giahsa takes care of operating and maintaining its networks. As is the case with the supply networks, two tasks are involved, on the one hand, corrective maintenance, which deals with blockages in the collectors, connections or auxiliary elements, such as the manholes or domestic catch basins, and, on the other, preventive maintenance, which aims to keep the wastewater collectors, rainfall collectors and the water scuppers used to collect rainfall, and the run-off from irrigation and town cleaning, in prime condition. The Network Department also takes care of the plumbing needs in the municipal buildings of the Town Councils that so request.
